PHNOM PENH (Jan 25, 2008) – Phnom Penh Empire hope to do better in the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Decho Hun Sen Cup 2008 which kicks off the previous week in three Cambodian provinces.
The three provincial centres which will be in the thick of the action this year are Takeo, Kampong Chhnang and Siem Reap with a total of 28 teams taking part in the championship. And Phnom Penh Empire who were denied the league crown this year by Naga Corp are aiming to win the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Decho Hun Sen Cup 2008 to make up for their bitter disappointment. And thus far, they have been done well when they qualified into the next round of the championship after winning Group F ahead of Royal Sword FC, Peacock FC and Post Telecommunication FC. Phnom Penh Empire completed their round of matches with three wins out of three scoring 12 goals and conceding only once. The other team which qualified from the group is Royal Sword FC. In the meantime, Naga Corp FC were not far behind in Group B when they made short work of their opponents to pick up the full points against the likes of Phuchung Neak FC, Kampot FC and Dophine Koh Kong FC. Naga Corp FC are joined by Phuchung Neak FC in the next round. In the meantime, the other qualifiers from the other groups are Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC, Build Bright University FC and Sihanouk Ville FC from Group A and Khemara Keila FC, Moha Garuda FC and Pursat FC from Group C. From Group F are Lion Squad FC, National Defense Ministry FC and Kampong Speu FC while Group E completes the line-up with Spark FC, Baksey Chamkrong FC and Phnom Pros FC.
