PHNOM PENH (26 May 2011) – Phnom Penh Crown FC qualified for the final round of the AFC President’s Cup 2011 despite losing their last qualifying Group A match 1-0 to Kyrgyzstan’s Neftchi FC.
With the result, Neftchi FC win Group A while Phnom Penh Crown emerged as the runners-up and where they will join Yadanarbon (Myanmar), Istiklol (Tajikistan), Taiwan Power Company (Chinese Taipei) and FC Balkan (Turkmenistan) in the six-team finals.
In the match that was played at the National Olympic Stadium in the Cambodian capital, Adzhiniiazov Marat scored the only goal of the game in the 79th minute.
Phnom Penh Crown began their Group A campaign with a 3-0 win over Don Bosco Sports Club of Sri Lanka – with goals coming off Kingsley Metu Njoku in the 25th minute, Kouch Sokumpheak (66th) and Chan Chaya (67th) finding the target.
In their second match, Phnom Penh beat Abahani of Bangladesh 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming off Chan Chaya ten minutes to the end.
