PHNOM PENH (27 June 2009) – Defending champions Phnom Penh Crown moved up to second from seventh in the Cambodia Premier League following their convincing 2-0 win over Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC.
But Kirivong put up a brave fight in front of several hundred fans when they held Phnom Penh to a scoreless draw at the half. With experience on their side, Phnom Penh scored two quick goals – A. Tunji Ayoyina in the 75th minute and Keo Songa in the 78th minute – for the win and the three valuable points. In the other match of the day, Naga Corp FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Khemara Keila FC. Teap Vathanak (15th minute) and O. S. Patrick (65th) gave Naga a 2-0 lead just after the hour mark but they had to put up with some harrowing moments when A. Anthony (71st) and Kuoch Sokomphiak (78th) scored for Khemara. PIX: Phnom Penh Crown (in blue kit) against Kirivong (in red kit) |
