MANILA (20 Dec 2016) – The Philippines Under-22 held their Malaysian counterparts to a scoreless draw in a friendly that was played at the Ridzal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
The deadlock was an improvement for the home team considering that they had conceded a 4-1 loss to the Malaysians in a friendly earlier this year.
“I am satisfied because I saw a lot of potential. We have a team that plays aggressive football that can catch up with Malaysia in terms of speed and agility,” said Philippines head coach Marlon Maro.
Malaysian head coach Frank Earnhardt said: “Our players were tired from the holidays when they were called up, so we only have few preparations.”
