MANILA (13 Feb 2014) – The Philippines Football Federation (PFF) announced this week that they will give the SEA Games in 2015 a skip, preferring instead to focus all their resources to the biennial championship in 2017 instead.
The 2015 edition of the SEA Games will be hosted by Singapore while Malaysia will entertain ASEAN in 2017.
“We won’t be sending a team to the Singapore SEA Games because the same officials who did not want us to go in 2103 (SEA Games in Myanmar) will still be there in 2015,” said PFF president Mariano Araneta.
The PFF had recently appointed Australian World Cupper Jim Fraser to handle and train the Under-21 squad where they will play in the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy in Brunei later this year.
With still a few years to develop the squad, the team should be at their best for the 2017 edition of the SEA Games in Malaysia.
