MANILA (4 Jan 2012) – As part of their preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup in March, the Philippines national team will play two friendlies this month. They have been scheduled to take on Spanish third division side CF Madrid on 7 January 2012 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Exactly two weeks later, the Philippines national side will then play a Korean side from Incheon in an exhibition match to raise fund for victims of Typhoon ‘Sendong’ which affected Northern Mindanao. The match is arranged by Dargon Promotions.
“We are really excited about our first venture into a new sport. Football is the sport of the world, and we are amazed at the growth of it in the Philippines. It literally feels like an overnight sensation due to the diligent work of the Philippine Football Federation and the vast support of ABS-CBN,” said Cindy Lee, CEO of Dragon Promotions.
The AFC Challenge Cup is slated for 9-13 March in Nepal.
