MANILA (13 April 2012) – A rematch is on the cards as the Philippines have accepted to play against Malaysia in a friendly in Kuala Lumpur on 1 June 2012.
The last time the two sides met more than a month ago in Manila, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The current AFF Suzuki Cup champions will be the first test for the side that recently came in third in the AFC Challenge Cup.
“Malaysia have invited us to play a friendly in Kuala Lumpur on 1 June and more or less, we’ll (accept the invite and) go there,” said Araneta, the president of the Philippines Football Federation (PFF).
“I’ve had initial talks with Dan (Palami, the Azkals team manager) and he’s okay with this.”
At the same time too, Araneta revealed that the PFF have also extended invitation to play friendlies against Indonesia and Thailand for possibly on 5 June and 12 June respectively.
“I’ll be talking further to officials of Indonesia and Thailand when they come to Manila for the AFF Council meeting (slated for 21 April),”added Araneta.
