MANILA (14 Aug 2008) – Rizal Football from the Philippines won the gold in the Norway Cup after winning all their matches in the youth tournament which was held at the Baekkelagets Sportsklub in Oslo.
Rizal Football won all their seven matches by beating Strømmen (10-0), Nordstrand (4-1), Lyn 2 (4-1), Gruner (2-0), Holmlia (3-1), Hakadal (5-1) and Hoybr/Stovn (5-2). “I have my complete confidence with them,” said Potenciano Fernandez, the head coach of Rizal Football. The Norway Cup, which is in its 36th year, is the largest youth tournament in the world with 1,500 teams taking part for well over than 30,000 participants from 50 countries. A total of 4,400 matches were played at 62 football fields. |
