MANILA (30 Sept 2008) – In the run-up to the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 qualifiers next month, the Philippines national team will be heading to Bangkok from 3 October, 2008 onwards for training and friendly matches.
Philippines will be up against Laos, Timor Leste, Brunei and hosts Cambodia for the qualifiers slated for 17-25 Oct, 2008 in Phnom Penh. Only the top two teams from the round-robin competition will advance to the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 in December. The Azkals will have a ten-day training camp in Bangkok under the watchful eyes of newly-appointed national coach Juan Cutillas. They are scheduled to play against top professional clubs from the Thailand Premier League as well as the national Under-23 squad of Thailand. After the series of friendlies, the Philippines national team will then head straight directly to Cambodia for the qualifiers where they have been drawn to take on Timor Leste in the opening match. |
