MANILA (15 Feb 2012) – The Philippines national team bounced back to beat Al Ahli of Qatar 3-1 in the second friendly in their Tour of the Middle East to at once erase the bitter experience of losing 3-0 to the Uzbekistan Under-23 in their first friendly a few days earlier.
In the match against Uzbeksitan U23, Kenja Turaev nailed the first goal just twelve minutes in before Ivan Nagaev nailed a brace with a double strike in the 42nd and 65th minute.
Against Al Ahli, Phil Younghusband nailed the opener in the ninth minute for the Philippines before Denis Wolf doubled the advantage with a rebounder a minute before the end of the first half.
Phil then added his second goal and Philippines’ third of the afternoon with anther strike in the 52nd minute as Ali Solaima Ashiri pulled a goal back for Al Ahli five minutes later.
The next match for the Philippines national team will be against the Australia Under-23 team tomorrow.
The team is being prepared for the AFC Challenge Cup in Nepal next month where they will be up against defending champions DPR Korea, India and Tajikistan.
