MANILA (14 April 2014) – The Philippines national side scored their first victory in 2014 when they nailed an emphatic 3-0 win over Nepal in a friendly that was played at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The team under new coach Thomas Dooley grabbed their first goal of the game in the 14th minute when a cross from Daisuke Sato, debutant Curt Dizon slammed in the lead.
In the 32nd minute, Martin Steuble doubled the advantage for the Philippines before Ruben Doctora rounded off the evening with the third strike of the game right at the end.
The team’s next match will be against Qatar club Al Ahli SC on 14 April.
The win for the Philippines was their first after holding Malaysia to a scoreless draw in Kuala Lumpur in early match and then going down to Azerbaijan a few days later.
