MANILA (26 March 2013) – Philip Younghusband was at once the hero and the villain for the Philippines national team when his lone goal gave them a hard fought 1-0 win over Turkmenistan in the decisive final qualifying game of Group E of the AFC Challenge Cup here tonight at the Rizal Memorial National Stadium.
With both teams desperate to win the game to win the only automatic ticket from the group to make the next round, it was to be Philip who turned out to be the great divider when he struck in the 67th minute for the winner.
But five minutes to the end Philip turned to be the villain for the Philippines when he earned a red card for a rash tackle.
However, playing with a man less could not prevent the Philippines from winning a place in the AFC Challenge Cup 2014 that will be held in Maldives.
