MANILA (24 April 2011) – The Philippines Football Federation (PFF) are set to spend PHP15 million (USD347,000) to prepare the national side for the first two rounds of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

And this also includes the two-week training in Duren, Germany in June.

“It’s a different level, that’s the reason why it will really cost us,” said team manager Dan Palami, who has been personally financing the team since 2009.

The bulk of the expenses will be for the training camp in Germany, where the Philippines national side is set to play several friendly matches.

“I’m sure the training in Germany will give us the necessary preparation for Sri Lanka and hopefully, Kuwait, in the second round,” added Palami.

Among the newcomers for the Philippines squad for the World Cup qualifiers are highly-rated rightback Stefan Schrock and leftback Dennis Cagara.

Philippines’ first game of the qualifiers against Sri Lanka will be on 29 June 2011 in Colombo with the return tie on 3 July 2011 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
