MANILA (9 Jan 2013) – Despite leading the Philippines to a place in the semi-finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup last year, the Philippines Football Federation (PFF) have offered Michael Weiss only a six month extension to his current contract.
With the Philippines due to take part in the AFC Challenge Cup in March this year, rocking the boat at this time seemed to be the last thing on PFF’s agenda although it also meant that failure would almost cost the German his position.
Weiss’ current two-year contract expires on 16 January 2013 where in the two years that he has been in charge since taking over from Simon McMenemy, the team had won 16 games, drawn 11 and lost 10.
PFF general secretary Edwin Gastanes had already made the offer to Weiss on the weekend but the latter had requested for more time to consider the offer.
