JAKARTA (29 Dec 2014) – Indonesian Super League side Persija have called off their friendly against Malaysian side Kelantan following the overwhelming onslaught of flooding that has affected the state.
Kelantan’s main venue of the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium is currently under water.
Through his twitter account, Kelantan coach George Boateng announced: “I am sorry and I apologise to all football fans in having to call off the friendly against Persija due to the bad flooding that is currently affecting the state.”
Asher Siregar, the deputy president of Persija admitted that they are in the know of the situation in Kelantan but who is at the moment waiting for the official word from the Kelantan FA (KAFA) that the game is confirmed off.
“Once we get the official word from Kelantan, then will we decide on our next move,” he added.
Persija are to feature in the Trofeo Persija and also the Marahalim Cup.
