SURABAYA (12 July 2014) – Persebaya Surabaya have partnered up with one of Japan’s biggest club Jubilo Iwata as part of an exchange for ideas and long term working relationship.
The team under former Indonesian national Under-23 chief coach Rahmad Darmawan met with Jubilo president Yoshiro Takahira yesterday.
“They chose Persebaya because their history is a lot like ours,” said Ali Affandi, Persebaya’s Director of Business Development.
“Just like us, we were big once and we had also spent some time in the lower division. So there is a similarity in terms of history.
Persebaya are the third team in Indonesia to form a partnership with clubs from Japan. Previously, Arema Cronus had linked up with Consadole Sapporo while Persija Jakarta chose Omiya Ardija.
