JAKARTA (6 March 2011) – Pelita Jaya FC have signed John van Beukering on a three-year contract.
Beukering – of Indonesian-Dutch descent – had previously been on a contract with Dutch club Feyenoord.
But due to his inability to compete against Feyenoord’s other signings like Soren Larsen, Kriszian Simon and Ryo Niyaichi, Beukering has has to look elsewhere with Indonesia being his immediate destination.
“I really hope that I can help Pelita improve and move out of the relegation zone and I believe that I can tough it out in the ISL (Indonesia Super League,” said van Beukering.
“I’ve been playing Dutch football for the past 12 years and obviously it is very competitive. But when the offer from Indonesia came, I did not hesitate. But I have to give due recognition to Feyenoord because they were very helpful in allowing me to leave the club.
“I’m used to playing against tough defenders like those from Africa, Russia or from Eastern Europe,” added van Beukering, who were also approached by Persema Malang and Persebaya 1927.
Prior to Feyenoord, Beukering had also played for SC Cambuur and AGOVV.
