BANGKOK (22 April 2009) – A double from international Panuwat Janta was enough to give Chonburi Bluewave a 2-1 win over Suratthani as they carved out a two-point lead at the top of the Thai Futsal League 2009.
Panuwat, who opened the scoring in the seventh minute, was devastated when Suratthani equalised in the 31st minute through Sitichai Prasongsil. But Chonburi were not to be denied the full points when Panuwat was again on hand to deliver the killer blow just four minutes to the end. With the win and the full points, Chonburi have collected 18 points from seven minutes into the new season while I AM Sport are on second with 16 points from the same number of games. I AM Sport maintained the pressure at the top of the table with a 8-6 win over TOT FC. Despite trailing by an early third minute goal off Sermphan Khumthinkeaw in the third minute, I AM Sport rallied to find the equaliser through Maykel Ferreira a minute later. By the time Werasak Arunpulsap slammed home the second goal for I AM Sport in the fifth minute and then Francisco Jackson in the sixth minute, their domination were already complete. I AM Sport added to their tally through Maykel (15th and 33rd minute), Werasak (26th), Kitipol Ekjit (9th) and Surachart Pongjeen (35th). Third-placed CAT Telecom were also on target with a 6-3 win over Bangkok Glass as defending champions Port Authority of Thailand picked up their second win in the league with an 8-2 thrashing of Sripatum.
