SHAH ALAM (14 April 2019) – East Coast giants Pahang came from behind to snatch a 2-1 win over PKNS FC in Sunday’s only Super League match played at the Shah Alam Stadium – an important win and three points which kept the Elephants unbeaten.
The win gave the Elephants 21 points from nine matches – two points behind five-time Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Takzim who edged Petaling Jaya City FC a day earlier.
Both, JDT and Pahang are the only two teams that are unbeaten and the two are likely to battle it for league honors this year.
PKNS grabbed the lead after 13 minutes of play through Cambodian international Chan Vathanaka, a former Pahang player. However, PKNS could not capitalize on their early goal.
Instead, Pahang grew in confidence as they kept their forays upfront to pile on the pressure on the homesters. The visitors were duly rewarded for their onslaught with Nigerian hitman Dickson Nwakaeme putting his team on level terms on 25 minutes.
Brazilian Ze Eduardo, who is also known as Ze Love, then put the finishing touches to an earlier corner in the 76h minute for the winner as Pahang celebrated to keep their unbeaten record intact.
