BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (15 Oct 2012) – Old Boyz FC won the first ever Teo and Sons Brunei Chinese League (BCL) 2012 after beating Kiudang Mungkom 4-3 at the Berakas Sports Complex.
After taking the lead through striker Liong Hong Ping in the 20th minute, Kiudang Mungkom were forced to play with a man short when defender Shannon Chong was red-carded early into the second half.
That gave the advantage to Old Boyz FC and in the 51st minute of play, they grabbed the equalizer through Ridzuan Abit before taking the lead for the first time in the match off Ridzuan’s penalty on 70 minute.
But Kiudang Mungkom fought back with Hong Ping putting both teams on level terms in the 82nd minute. With a minute left on the clock and with the game tied 2-2, Kiudang Mungkom were down to nine men when defender Cicyruni Chong picked up his second yellow card.
In extra time and with the match for the taking, Old Boyz FC made their numerical advantage count off a brace from Lim Aik Hock (93rd and 103rd). And while Kiudang Mungkom did still manage to find the back of their opponent’s net through Tommy Kambang in the 115th minute, there was no denying Old Boyz FC the crown.
The champions received a cash prize of BND2,000 with second placed Kiudang Mungkom bagging BND1,200 from Malik Mohammad, the Acting Director of the Youth and Sports Department.
