DILI (10 April 2012) – Adidas unveiled an Official Match Ball display at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich this week, showcasing the various FIFA World Cup balls produced and used throughout their history.
Claus-Peter Mayer, Vice President Global Sports Marketing Football, presented the display to both FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter and Secretary General Jerome Valcke. The glass casing contains 14 official Match Balls, all of which were created by Adidas for the FIFA World Cup as well as the 2004 FIFA Centennial Ball.
Meanwhile, the case shows two official Match Balls to represent the ones used at Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010, editions of the world finals where two different balls were created for the tournament and Final itself.
“It was a great pleasure to present the Adidas Official Match Ball display to our long term partner, FIFA. The official FIFA World Cup match balls are an important part of the history of both Adidas and FIFA and we are happy they are now on display to be shared with all visitors to the Home of FIFA,” said Mayer at the unveiling.
The display will evolve as FIFA and Adidas also intend to add the FIFA World Cup match balls from Brazil 2014.
