JAKARTA (9 Feb 2009) – Apart from the test match against Manchester United on 24 July this year, the Indonesia national team have drawn up matches against New Zealand and China as part of their overall programme.
After picking up two points in their first two matches of Group B of the Asian Cup 2011 qualifiers, Indonesia will only face Kuwait later this November and they will need these games as further tune-ups. Indonesia have drawn New Zealand as their first opponent in Jakarta on 1 April. “New Zealand have accepted our invitation. This is the first step to better prepare the national team ahead of the game against Kuwait,” said Herman Ago, the deputy general secretary of the Indonesia FA (PSSI). “We have also accepted the invitation from China (for a match in Singapore) although the date has yet to be confirmed.” Added Benny Dolo, the head coach of Indonesia: “For the match against New Zealand, we would probably start training at the end of March due to the on-going league season.” |
