YANGON (12 Aug 2008) – The recent Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup 2008 was not a total loss for Myanmar head coach Marcos Falopa.
Myanmar failed to make the final of the tournament this year when they falter to hosts India in the semi-finals through a late Sunil Chhetri’s header on 81st minute. But in the end, Falopa admitted that a defensive lapse coupled with the bad weather resulted in the defeat. “My defence made a mistake and India scored,” said Falopa. “Perhaps if we had met some other opponent other than India, it would have been better for us. “But the players did a good job especially since they were not expected to go far. I guess we will need to prepare much better for the next time.” The next assignment for the Myanmar national team would be for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 in December. |
