DECEMBER 20, 2006 (THAILAND): For several of the players who performed well for the Thailand national Under-23 side at the recent Asian Games, there will be no rest as they look to feature in the 37th King¡¯s Cup next.
The team returned from Qatar this week following an admirable performance when they made the quarter-finals before losing to the host. Six players have been short listed by head coach Charnwit Phalajivin and where they will feature against the likes of Singapore, Vietnam and Kazakhstan in the tournament slated for December 24-30. Among those who have been identified are goalkeeper Kosin Hathairattanakool and midfielder Datsakorn Thonglao, who had both featured in Thailand¡¯s gold winning squad at the last SEA Games in the Philippines. The others are Hattaporn Suwan, Suree Sukha, Suchao Nutnum and Sutee Suksomkit. Thailand will open their campaign against Vietnam on Dec 24 before taking on Singapore two days later. They will then wrap up their matches at the Suphachalasai Stadium against Kazakhstan on Dec 28. The decisive final between the top two teams in the round robin league format will be played on Dec 30. |
