PHNOM PENH (3 Nov 2008) – The long lay off due to the qualifying round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 did not affect Phnom Penh Empire FC one bit as they rolled to a comfortable 4-0 win over Khemara Keila FC in the Cambodian Premier League.
With the three points, Phnom Penh have opened up a 14 point lead at the top of the standings – well ahead of second placed Build Bright United. Yim Ratanak opened the floodgates on 16th minute as Linford Nkyi then added the second goal with five minutes remaining to the break. Hong Ratanak then added the third goal in the 82nd minute as Lappe Lappe rounded off the evening with the fourth goal three minutes to the end. But Build Bright United maintained the pressure on the league leaders when they beat Phuchung Neak FC 2-0. A brace from O. Olisaemeka (6th and 71st minute) ensured Build Bright the three points as they maintained a two-point gap ahead of third-placed Preah Khan Reach FC. CURRENT CAMBODIAN PREMIER LEAGUE STANDINGS 1.
