JAKARTA (1 Jan 2010) – Indonesia will not seek to change their formation ahead of their Group B match of the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers against Oman on Wednesday at the Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta.
Head coach Benny Dolo said that whatever the strategy which will be used on the day, the formation will stay the same as the players are already used to ideals. “We will still maintain our 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation which we have been using all this while,” said Benny. Benny said that for the match against Oman, the team will have to do without defenders Ismed Sofyan, who was red carded in the last match and Maman Abdurahman, who has picked up two yellow cards. So as to shore up their defence, the team will utilize two youngsters from the SEA Games 2009 squad and they are Rahmat Latif and Djayusman Triasdi who will play alongside the recall of Ahmad Kurniawan and Christian Worabay back into the team. The last time the two sides met was close to a year ago in Oman with the score ending in a 0-0 stalemate. In the meantime, Worawi Makudi, the president of the FA of Thailand (FAT) has set winning the King’s Cup as one of the priority for the team this year. Speaking after seeing Thailand beat Zimbabwe 3-0 (pix), Worawi said that the King’s Cup will be held in Nakhon Ratchasima from 17-23 January 2010. Apart from hosts Thailand, the other teams taking part are Denmark, Poland and Singapore. “Winning the King’s Cup is one of our goals this year,” added Worawi, whose Thai team lost to Denmark on penalties in last year’s final. |
