BANGKOK (2 July 2019) – As expected, Akira Nishino has formally been appointed as Thailand’s new head coach.
The former Japan national team manager was in Bangkok this week to work out terms to lead both the Thai senior side and also the national U23 team.
Nishino held talks with FAT President Somyot Pumpanmuang where he had requested to handle both the senior and also the U23 so as to build continuity.
Nishino will handle Thailand’s 2022 World Cup / Asian Cup qualifiers and the U23 campaign for the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines as well as the AFC U23 Championship 2020 which Thailand will be hosting.
