Initially, there were four names in the fray for the PSSI presidency for the period 2011-2014 – the other two being Arifin Panigoro (founder of the Indonesia Premier League) and General George Toisutta (Chief of Staff of the Indonesia Army).
“We followed the rules according to the statute of FIFA – the Standard Electoral Code FIFA, the statutes of PSSI that was validated by FIFA, and also the rules and regulations governing associations in presidential election, presidential candidature, and representatives of the president and also the appointments of members of the Election Committee for the period 2011-2015. “This is the result of the verification exercise which we carried out for the presidential candidates and also the list of candidates for the Exco members.”
From the list of 29 candidates given for positions in the PSSI Executive Committee, only 25 were given the green light by the Elections Committee.
