SINGAPORE (15 Jan 2010) – Singapore have included nine players from their Young Lions squad which played at the SEA Games recently for the King’s Cup in Thailand on 17-23 January 2010 in Nakhon Ratchasima province.
The nine players who have been chosen by Singapore national coach Radojko Avramovic are goalkeeper Jasper Chan, Eddie Affendy Chang, Afiq Yunos, Safuan Baharudin, Irwan Shah Arismail, Jeremy Chiang, Fazli Ayob, Fadhil Noh and Khairul Nizam. “This is the best time for the young players to gain exposure where ultimately, their aim would be to win places in the national squad,” said Avramovic (pix). “The Thailand championship will expose these young players against quality opponents where it will be good for them to not only gain confidence but also to play the game at a higher level.” Other than Singapore and the hosts, the other teams taking part are defending champions Denmark and Poland.
