JAKARTA (23 April 2009) – The Indonesia National Futsal Board (BFN) have decided to retain only eight members from the previous national squad for the current centralized training camp.
The BFN announced a squad list of 25 players to prepare Indonesia for the AFF Futsal Championship 2009 which will be held in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on 8–15 June 2009. The selection criteria were based on the players’ performance at the Indonesia Futsal League 2008. Out of the 25 players identified by Indonesia Futsal head coach Justin Lhaksana, only eight players took part in the AFF Futsal Championship 2008. The eight are Yos Adi Wicaksono, Jaelani Lanjanibi, Deny Handoyo, Sayan Karmadi, M Ihsan, Afif Tamimy,Topas Pamungkas and Fachry Assegaff. The four players who have been left out are Ade Lesmana, Ahmad Syaibani, Andri Irawan and Sukmanegara. Electric PLN – the defending champions of the Indonesia Futsal League 2008 – gave up the most players to the national training squad with eight. “There will be no favouritsm in the selction for the national team where we will based our decision on the player’s technical ability, physical endurance, strong determination as well as their willingness to follow instruction,” said Yerico Umbas from BFN. A second selection process – which will be carried out by Justin and assisted by Hendra Nazir and Stef Van Meerveld from Holland – will be carried out in mid-May after the first two rounds of the Indonesia Futsal League 2009.
