SOLO (9 July 2011) – Newly-elected president of the FA of Indonesia (PSSI) Djohar Arifin Husein has called for unity for the good of the game in Indonesia.
At the PSSI Congress which was held this afternoon in Solo, Djohar won the seat as the new president of the PSSI with 61 votes as against the 38 votes won by Agusman Effendi.
“Let us all forget the past, and all our troubles. We should be united. We should be together with our vision for the betterment of Indonesian football,” said Djohar.
Asked if he would consider joining hands with the opposition group, Djohar added: “if there are capable personnel and qualified, there is no reason why we should not be able to work together.
“We should all work together for the success of Indonesia. I hope that everyone in the fraternity will support me as afterall, management would be nothing without the support of the football community.”
Former player of PSMS Medan, Djohar had also been a District Manager for the province of North Sumatera, general secretary of the Indonesia Olympic Council (KONI) as well as a previous member of the Indonesia Ministry for Youth and Sports.
Other than the election of Djohar Arifin as the new president of the PSSI, the post of deputy president was also decided where it went to Farid Rahman.
The new members of the PSSI Executive Committee for session 2011-2015 are Nyalla Mattalitti, Mawardy Nurdin, Roberto Rhouw, Tuti Dau, Widodo Santoso, Sihar Sitorus, Erwin Dwi Budiawan, Tony Apriani and Bob Hippy.
