JAKARTA (15 June 2010) – Newly-appointed Indonesian chief coach Alfred Riedl will announce the new Indonesia national team training squad next month – on July 24 to be exact.
The Indonesia national team management (BTN) has decided that they will call a total of 24 players for the national team training which will begin on 1 August in Jakarta. “The coach had already identified the 24 players although we will only make an official announcement on them on 24 July,“ said Iman Arif, the chairman of BTN. But the naming of the training squad is by no means final where BTN plan to bring in 13 new players from the selection process which will be done during the final group of 16 in the Indonesia Cup in July. “The 13 new additional players will be called for national training only on 25 August,” Iman added, who is also the director of the Indonesia Football Academy in Kuningan in Jakarta. Other than the national training camp, the BTN will also be organising several friendlies – once in August, once in September, two in October and also twice in November. Their likely opponents will be from Asia and Europe where the decision has also been made not to play matches against teams from South East Asia. The BTN also announced that they will be forming a Technical Study Group which will be headed by Timo Scheunemann alongside Danurwindo, Jaya Hartono and Herry Kiswanto. Their first priority will be to study Indonesia’s opponents ahead of the AFF Championship 2010. |
