JAKARTA (29 April 2013) – The FA of Indonesia (PSSI) and the National Futsal Management (BFN) have decided on a new format for the Indonesia Futsal League 2013 with the formation of a regional body to select teams.
Toni Aprilani, a member of the PSSI Exco, said that the problem in the past is that the league was inundated with teams which are considered as amateurish.
“This affected the quality of the competing teams, so for this year we have decided on a new format. We have not decided on the exact details but for sure, there will be only 12 teams taking part,” said Tony.
“There were also too many teams taking part in 2012 which resulted in a long season and which in turn affected cost.”
Tony said that the PSSI have decided on having three strata for the Indonesia Super League with the upper echelon to have quality players good enough to be professionals.
The IFL 2013 is expected to begin in May in Jakarta.
