MANILA (24 May 2011) – Negros Occidental FA won the Philippines Football Federation (PFF)-Suzuki Under-23 National Championships when they destroyed Iloilo FA 9-0 in the second-leg final that was played at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City.
Following their 3-1 win from the first leg just a few days earlier, Negros Occidental were all fired up with Fil-American Joshua Beloya and Aldrin Dolino leading the way.
Beloya blasted in two goals (6th and 75th minute) as Gino Palomo nailed a hat-trick with goals in the 38th, 45th and 50th minutes.
The other goals came off Dolino (21st and 43rd minute) and Ralph Lamuyas (79th and 80th minute).
“We really wanted to win. I know they will make more goals (in the second leg) but not as many as nine,” said Norman Fegidero, the chief coach of Negros after the match.
“We hope to bounce from this setback and do our best in the other tournaments such as the on-going Under-19championship,” said Iloilo team manager JR Robles.
