BANGKOK (10 March, 2008) – Defending champions Chonburi FC made it a near perfect start to the Thailand’s Premier League 2008 when they won three out of the four matches played thus far.
A 2-1 win over Bangkok University on the weekend was a follow up to their 3-1 victory over Port Authority, a 2-1 score over Samud Songkram and their scoreless draw against Bangkok Bank FC in their earlier matches. With the 10 points, Chonburi are at the top of the Thailand Premier League 2008 although Tobacco Monopoly are not far behind with the same points from their first four games. Tobacco had began the season on an earnest note when they beat Nakornpratom FC 2-0 in their first match before edging BEC Tero Sasana 1-0 in their second and then Customs Department 1-0 as well. But in their last match, Tobacco could have overtaken Choburi at the top of the table had they been able to do better than the 1-1 draw they scored against Chula Sinthana on the road. Third at the table is TOT FC with nine points from three matches while fourth is BEC Tero Sasana with seven points from four games. Three teams in the 16-team Thailand Premier League 2008 have yet to pick up a single point in the matches thus far and they are Customs Department, Army FC and Port Authority FC.
