PHNOM PENH (11 Feb 2009) – There were no quarters spared as National Defense Ministry FC and Phuchoung Neak FC romped their way into the quarter-finals of the Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen Cup 2009 this week.
National Defense Ministry disposed of Kampot Province 4-0 for their place in the last eight as they raced to a 3-0 lead at the break with goals off Sok Pheng (13th and 41st minute) and Laun Sotheara (45th). Khim Borey then added the final touch to the scoreline eight minutes to the end. On the other hand, Phuchoung Neak FC were a tad too strong for Sihanouk Ville Autonomy Port FC as they saw off the latter with a convincing 6-1 beating. Pao Samnang got the score rolling with the first goal of the game as early as the fifth minute before Heng Sok Ly added the second goal in the 37th minute for Phuchoung Neak to take just a 2-0 lead at the break. But the floodgates opened in the second half as Seu Seyha (54th minute), a second from Pao Samnang (66th) and S. Sunday’s brace (82nd and 89th) rounded off what was an eventful evening for Phuchoung Neak. The only goal for Sihanouk Ville Autonomy Port FC in the game came off Yim Bun Tha in the 58h minute. The final two spots in the quarter-finals of the Hun Sen Cup this year will be decided in the matches between Ranger FC/ Life University and Naga Corp/ Koh Kong Province next week.
