BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (10 Feb 2014) – Najip FC kept up the chase at the top of the DST Super League 2014 when they edged Wijaya FC 2-1 to stay in touch with leaders MS PDB (Royal Brunei Police Sports Council) at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
Right at the half hour mark, Najip grabbed the lead when Abang Nor Silmy Abang Taha blasted in from close range before Wijaya FC nailed the equalizer off Abg Muhd Fakhri Abg Jaludin’s counter-attack in the 62nd minute.
A penalty in the 72nd minute, which was duly converted by Noor Raimi, gave Najip the hard fought three points.
“The players need to be consistent for the whole 90 minutes mentally and emotionally,” said Najip coach Johari Bungsu afterwards.
In the meantime, MS PDB strolled over Majra United 2-0 to keep their place at the top of the standings.
Mohd Zulkhairie Hj Md Salleh scored the opener in the 60th minute as Khalid Mustapah then added the second goal seven minutes later.
