PHNOM PENH (10 Sept 2012) – Naga Corp FC will be looking to win their third Cambodia Metfone League crown as newcomers Boueng Ket Rubber Field FC seem set to deny them in the final match of the season that will be played on 15 September at the National Olympic Stadium.
In the play-offs this week Naga Corp – champions in 2007 and 2009 – beat National Police 3-1 with goals from Kob Y Sa, Om Thavrak and Teab Vathanak. The only goal for National Police came from Srey Udom.
In the meantime, Boueng Ket beat Preah Khan Reach FC 4-1 in extra time to book their place in the final. The score at the end of regulation was 1-1 with the lead for Preah Khan from David Njoku in the 20th minute being erased by Julius Oiboh in the 27th minute of play.
With the score tied at the break, the loss of Sok Rithy in the 69th minute and then Adekunjo Nojeem Busayo in the 90th minute would turn the game against Preah Khan.
Momoh Degule Sumaila was quick to grab the lead for Boueng Ket in the 98th minute to add further pressure on Preah Khan which then saw the latter losing Prak Monyudom in the 112th minute to another red card.
Boueng Ket went on to wrap the game up with further goals from Hong Makara in the 115th minute and then Busayo in the 119th minute.
While Boueng Ket will play Naga in the final on 15 September, the fight for third place will see Preah Khan Reach taking on National Police on 12 September.
