PHNOM PENH (6 August 2012) – A thumping 7-0 win over struggling Chhlam Samut this week has underlined Naga Corp FC’s title ambition with just three matches to go to the end of the Metfone Cambodia League 2012.
With the three points off goals from Sun Sophanha 22nd minute, Teab Vathanak (27th and 60th minute), Kob Y Sa 30th, Choun Chum (34th and 76th) and Sun Sovanrithy (83rd), Naga Corp have picked up 33 points from 15 matches.
Considering second-placed Preah Khan Reach FC are just a point behind but having played a game more while third-placed National Police are on 30 points, also from 16 games played, Naga Corp seem poised to win their third crown after wins in 2007 and 2009.
In the meantime, defending champions Phnom Penh Crown FC continue to struggle this year when they fell to a 3-1 loss to Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC on the weekend.
Phnom Penh had taken the lead through Sos Souhana in the 5th minute but Kirivong fought back off goals from In Vichhika’s double in the 25th and 29th minute as well as another from Ek Sopheap four minutes to the end.
