Naga Corp On Top; Play-Offs Cast Completed

PHNOM PENH (16 August 2012) – Naga Corp FC completed the league stage of the Metfone Cambodia League 2012 on top as the top four teams for the play-offs were confirmed this week.

Naga Corp FC’s 2-1 win over Build Bright United were enough to see them finish the league stage on top even though they still have one more game to play for. Naga Corp made sure of the points with goals off Kob Y Sa in the 23^rd minute and Choun Chum’s penalty in the 41^st minute.

Build Bright only goal in the game came from Ito Dan deep in injury time.

With the three points, Naga Corp remained on top where after 17 matches, they have collected 37 points. On second is Preah Khan Reach FC with 33 points while third is Boueng Ket Rubber Field FC with the same 33 points from 17 games.

Fourth is National Police, also with 33 points but they have completed their 18 matches in the league. Defending champions Phnom Penh Crown FC are fifth with 26 points, which means that even though they still have one game to play, it is impossible for them to overtake National Police in the fight for the top four teams to qualify for the play-offs slated for 9 September 2012.

In the other match of the weekend, Boung Ket Rubber Field FC beat Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC 3-2.Boung Ket’s goals were scored by O. C. Darlington in the 23^rd minute, Yob Romatorn in the 33^rd minute and Keo Sokgnorn in the 68^th minute.

Kirivong’s goals were scored by Giwa Akeem Bolaji in the 43^rd minute and Ek Vannak in the 56^th minute.

The last game of the league stage will be played on 18^th and 19^th August 2012.
