PHNOM PENH (20 May 2012) – Approaching the end of round one of the Metfone Cambodia League, former champions Naga Corp FC surged ahead to the top of the standings after making up for lost grounds following their stuttering start to the season.
Naga had begun the new season with a 4-2 loss to National Police, but they have since scored six wins and two draws in their last eight matches. With the 20 points, Naga took control of the standings ahead of Preah Khan Reach FC (19 points) and National Police (19 points).
Fourth is Metfone Cambodia League newcomer Boueng Ket Rubber Field with 14 points.
Defending champions Phnom Penh Crown FC are currently placed fifth with 12 points where they have notched four wins and four defeats. Their last game was a 3-1 loss to Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC.
