PHNOM PENH (9 July 2012) – With a game in hand, Naga Corp FC are in a pivotal position going into the home stretch of the Metfone Cambodia League 2012.The former champions are currently placed third in the standings with 24 points from 11 matches.
Having played a game more are current league leaders Preah Khan Reach FC (on 26 points) and second-placed National Police (on 25 points).Both teams only picked up one point each this week.
Preah Khan were held to a 2-2 draw by defending champions Phnom Penh Crown FC while National Police were held by Naga to a similar 2-2 deadlock.
In the match between Preah Khan and Phnom Penh, David Njoku was the toast for Preah Khan when his double in the 51st and 66th minute cancelled out the Phnom Penh’s goals that were scored by Sok Pheng in the 17th minute and then Khim Borey in the 58th minute.
In the match between National Police and Naga Corp, it was the latter who went ahead twice through Choun Chum in the 20th minute and then Sun Sophanha in the 35th minute.
But on both occasions, National Police came back off Man Rithavan in the 33rd minute and then Tit Dyna in the 43rd minute for parity.
Elsewhere, Build Bright United beat struggling Chhlam Samut FC 4-2 while National Defense Ministry FC edged Western University 2-1.
