PHNOM PENH (11 Oct 2011) – Myanmar handed Laos their second defeat in the BIDC Cup – this time thumping the latter 4-0 – while Thailand thrashed China 7-2 at the National Olympic Stadium.
Nay Lin Tun was on target twice with goals in the 36th and 45th minute before further goals from Thet Naing in the 80th and Thiha Zaw in the 90th minute sealed the first three points for Myanmar.
For Laos, the defeat was even harder to swallow when they lost Tiengkham Bounyasaxy just two minutes into the second half.
In the meantime, Thailand were in commanding form when they romped to a 7-2 win over China.
Chayawat Srihawong (47th and 56th minute) and Pakorn Parmpak (89th and 90th minte) nailed a brace each for the Thais with the other goals scored by Perapat Notchaya (43rd minute), Thitiphan Puangjan (72nd minute) and Narakorn Kana in the 82nd minute.
China’s goals were scored by Liu Jie in the 64th minute and Huang Lei in the 75th minute.
The BIDC Cup is a tournament for teams in the Mekong Delta and restricted to just Under-21 sides.
