KUALA LUMPUR (15 August 2017) – Thailand were made to sweat by Myanmar before walking away with a 3-2 win at UM Arena.
Rattikan Thongsombut was in her element as she struck twice in six minutes to steer Thailand to victory. Win Theingi Tun opened accounts with a goal in 23rd minute to help Myanmar hold to a 1-0 lead in the first half.
But Rattikan found her scoring touch in the second half, striking twice in six minutes in the 65th and 71st minute to put Thailand on a 2-1 lead.
Win Theingi Tun however pulled one back to level the score in the 77 minute. As the match heads into the last five minutes, Orathai Srimanne found the net to give the Thais a 3-2 win.
“It is a very good win considering we were losing at the beginning but we managed to catch up with the team’s resilience,” said Thailand head coach, Spencer Justin Prior.
Myanmar Head coach, Reijners Roger Johannes Joseph Hu was clearly upset over the defeat. “The players got carried away after their goal and forgot about the game plan. We had a good chance of winning but we missed it.
Myanmar will be playing against Malaysia on Aug 17 while Thailand are up against Malaysia on Aug 20 at UiTM Stadium, Shah Alam.
