YANGON (12 Oct 2019) – With only three slots available to the AFC meet in 2020, Myanmar are taking a practical approach when the AFF HDBank Futsal Championship 2019 starts next week.
This year’s AFF HDBank Futsal Championship is being used as the qualifying round for the AFC Futsal Championship in 2020 where only three teams will make the cut to the meet in Turkmenistan.
“Naturally, we are looking at winning of one of three slots to the AFC meet but we also realised that it will not be easy,” said Myanmar head coach Htay Myint.
“Other than the big teams in the region, I believe that the other teams have also made improvements, so we have to be careful and not overreach ourselves.
“We have to be practical and also take it one game at a time.”
For the championship this year, Myanmar have been placed in Group A against powerhouse Thailand, Timor Leste and Cambodia.
Group B are hosts Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia.
