PHNOM PENH (17 Oct 2011) – Myanmar won the BIDC Cup after beating Thailand 2-1 in the final that was played at the National Olympcic Stadium last night.
The score at the end of the first half was 1-1 with Pakorn Parmpak giving the Thais the lead in the 41st minute before Zaw Lin equalised two minutes later.
The scored was tied until the end of regulation up until the 107th minute when Thet Naing nailed the winner from close range to give Myanmar the well-deserved victory.
For their effort, the Myanmar team walked away with the USD 20,000 prize money with the runners-up winning USD 15,000.
The two losing semi-finalists – Cambodia and Vietnam – were awarded USD 10,000 each.
Hosts Cambodia won the Fair Play award while the top scorer award went to Thai striker Pakorn Parmpak.
