NAYPYITAW (22 Dec 2013) – Myanmar could not have gotten a bigger honour following their successful hosting of the SEA Games 2013 than to be awarded with the hosting job of the AFF Suzuki Cup in 2016.
The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) were awarded the hosting job alongside the Philippines Football Federation (PFF) where both countries will host the group stage for the first time ever in their history.
The preceding qualifying competition will be hosted by the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC).
This was decided at the AFF Council meeting which was held here in Naypyitaw yesterday.
“It is indeed an honour for Myanmar and with the new facilities that have been built, we are very confident that we can do a very good job,” said Zaw Zaw, the president of the MFF.
“All I can say is thank you for the trust that has been placed in the PFF and we will work hard to make sure that we deliver a successful event,” added Mariano Arenata, the president of the PFF.
