BANGKOK (9 Sept 2009) – A slim 1-0 win over Bangkok Glass was enough to put Muang Thong United three points clear at the top of the Thai Premier League 2009.
In front of a crowd of well over 10,000 at the Thunderdome Sports Complex, Thai national striker Teerasil Dangda scored the only goal of the game just nine minutes in. But Bangkok Glass had several clear chances to draw level only to be denied by the excellent work of Kawin Thammasajjanun in goal. In the meantime, second-placed Chonburi Bluewave dropped further points when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bangkok United at the Thai-Japan Stadium. Bangkok were in front in the 35th minute through Noppol Poludom before Chonburi’s Michael Byrne equalised five minutes later. In the other matches, BEC Tero Sasana scored a 3-1 victory over Pattaya United as Navy Rayong drew 1-1 with strugglers Chula United. CURRENT THAI PREMIER LEAGUE 2009 STANDINGS 1.
