BANGKOK (18 July 2010) – Defending champions Muang Thong United took advantage of the slip-up from their closest challenger Chonburi to go three points clear at the top of the Thai Premier League this week.
Chonburi’s title aspiration were delivered with a shock awakening when they fell to a shock 1-0 loss to Army FC with the only goal in the game coming off David Bayiha in the 36th minute. With Chonburi stuttering, Muang Thong romped to a 6-0 win over Si Sa Ket FC at the Yamaha stadium – 3-0 at the half off goals from Soumahoro Yaya, Kone Mohamed and Teerasil Dangda. The Kirin added three more goals after the break through Datsakorn Thonglao, Jakkraphan Kaewprom and Amorn Thamnam. At Thammasat Stadium, Insee Police United defeated Bangkok Glass FC 3-2. The Police enjoyed a fine first-half, racing into a 3-0 lead with two goals from Asmin Mae and another by Anisong Jaroentham. Bangkok Glass came back strongly in the second half with goals from Chartree Chimtalay and Amnaj Kaewkew. Under a new Chilean coach after the resignation of former Thailand international, Tawan Sripan, BEC Tero enjoyed a 3-0 victory over Bangkok United.
