BANGKOK (27 March 2012) – Former champions Muang Thong United scored could not be more than pleased with their start to the new season as their second win from two matches has put them in the lead in the Thai Premier League 2012.
After beating BEC Tero Sasana 2-1 in their first game last week, Muang Thong upped the tempo to thrash Thai Port FC 5-1 at the SCG Stadium with goals from Mario Djurovski, Teerasil Dangda, Phichitphong Cheiuchiu, Sarach and Dagno Siaka. The only goal from Thai Port came off Ekkabhum Photharongroj.
With the three points, Muang Thong took over the lead from Chonburi, who could only manage a poor scoreless draw against Bangkok Glass FC at the Leo Stadium, which also saw them slipped down to third at the standings.
Following closely on second is the all-conquering Buriram United, who stated their intention to successfully defend all the crowns they won last year, by defeating league newcomers BB-CU FC 3-0 at the I-Mobile Stadium.
Elswhere, Samut Songkhram beat Insee Police United 1-0 as TTM Chiang Mai drew scoreless against Chiang Rai United. BEC Tero Sasana fell to a 1-0 loss to Pattaya United with the only goal of the game coming in the 76th minute off Seekate Martputeh.
Isan United beat Osotspa M-150 Saraburi 2-1 while Chainat FC drew 1-1 against Wuachon United and TOT SC conceded a 2-0 defeat to Army United.
